  • Latest News: Denis Johnson Awarded Prize for American Fiction

    Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden announced today that Denis Johnson, author of the critically acclaimed collection of short stories “Jesus’ Son” and the novel “Tree of Smoke,” will posthumously receive the Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction during the 2017 Library of Congress National Book Festival, Sept. 2.

On July 4, 2017, please join us for a patriotic flag ceremony at Fort Monroe including participants in period attire, a eulogy of President James Monroe, at talk by Elise Harding Davis on the Rush-Bagot Treaty of 1817, and live period music.  Reception to follow.

of District 21, Royal Arch Masons on May 19, 2017.  The presentation centered on 
the bicentennial of the Rush-Bagot Agreement and ended with a reading of President 
Monroe's 1817 inaugural speech.
